Hair Removal
WAXING, THREADING, ELECTROLYSIS & LASER
We offer a variety of permanent and non-permanent hair removal methods at our clinic. We’re always happy to assist you in exploring the best solution for you. Our treatments are available for both men and women and are performed by our professionally trained practitioners.
Waxing
Using lukewarm honey-resin wax and 100% cotton strips we expertly remove hair quickly. It is the most effective way to temporarily remove unwanted hair for both women and men.
In terms of treatment frequency, we recommend every 4 weeks. This period of time will give you a better overall effect, mainly because your hair grows in three different stages. Some hair is just starting to grow from the follicle, some hair is just below the skins surface waiting to emerge and some is fully-grown. We repeat this cycle continuously throughout our lives. Maintaining a 4 week cycle for waxing will ensure you’ll remain hair free throughout the 3 hair growth cycles.
Threading
We use a 100% thin cotton thread, which we then double and twist. This thread is rolled over areas of unwanted facial hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove short lines of hair quickly and painlessly. It’s particularly effective for eyebrow shaping.
Electrolysis
Originally invented in the 1800’s as a treatment for ingrown eyelashes, electrolysis can now boast the best and longest track record for permanent hair removal. We use the sequential hair removal system that uses variable modulated currents for a more comfortable and effective treatment. Electrolysis is excellent for fine-tuning hair removal of delicate areas such as your eyebrows. Treatments are booked for specific time periods starting at 10 minutes running up to 60 minutes. Many times electrolysis is combined with laser. Laser can remove large areas of hair quickly, while electrolysis can take care of the hairs that are missed during laser treatments (light coloured hair or stragglers for example)
Laser
Laser treatments can be used to treat minor facial blemishes and can provide permanent hair removal. At Shams Esthetics and Wellness we always offer a free initial consultation and demonstration of our machines. After an assessment is performed pricing and treatment length will be discussed. Each clients needs are different so we assess on a person-by-person basis.
We have two different laser machines, each with a specific purpose.
- Smooth CoolTM – this machine can treat a wide range of facial blemishes safely and effectively and it removes hair. Facial blemishes such as broken capillaries, benign brown pigment spots, age spots, sun-induced freckles and mottled pigmentation can all be treated. It is effective on almost any area of the body and will give you smoother, younger-looking, hair-free skin. This is a very low-risk, “nearly” pain-free, “no down time” treatment option.
- Multidiode SLP Aesthetic Laser (SLP) is a multidisciplinary diode laser. It efficiently removes hair as well as vascular and pigmented lesions. It also provides skin treatment and non-ablative skin rejuvenation. With non-ablative skin rejuvenation, the Multidiode SLP™ aesthetic laser applies controlled laser energy to the upper layers of the dermis and successfully accelerates the collagen synthesis process. The skin is given a brighter appearance by changing its texture, reducing pores and eliminating fine wrinkles.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’s)
- How do I decide which laser treatment is best for me?
As part of the initial FREE consultation, we will assess your condition taking your desired results into consideration. We can then provide you with a customized professional treatment plan suited precisely to your needs. - Is this laser process painful?
Hair removal with either the SmoothCoolTM or Multidiode SLP laser is not painful. However, it is normal to feel a slight stinging sensation during the treatment even though the skin is protected by a cooling system. Different options are available for those with sensitive skin. - How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies. It depends on factors such as skin type, hair removal methods previously used, current health and the specific area being treated. In most cases optimal hair removal can be achieved within 6 to 9 treatments. Our technicians are trained to work safely and efficiently with both our laser machines.
