Facial Treatments

Your face is your fortune” is a very well known saying. With the negative effects of the sun, wind and pollution, sometimes our ‘fortune’ can take a beating.  It stands to reason that the most exposed part of our body, our face, will suffer from these negative environmental effects first.  Adding to the environmental factors is the pressure of day-to-day life; stress from our jobs and a lack of sleep.  These all compound and negatively affect the aging process of our face. A thorough skin cleansing and facial is a necessity to combat these negative forces.

The benefit of having regular facials include increased blood circulation, removal of blocked toxins, or in T.C.M. (Traditional Chinese Medicine), what’s called the stagnation of “Qi”.  By removing these blockages we can help restore a youthful appearance. In our practice we do use specialized equipment during and after treatments, when necessary, to help with certain conditions.  (e.g. acne, anti-aging, and sunburn treatments.)  At Shams Esthetics and Wellness we offer a variety of facials (for men, women and youth) and can provide a facial consultation and analysis before we begin treatment.

At Shams Esthetics and Wellness, we offer a wide variety of facials (for men, women and youth) and will provide a facial consultation and analysis before we begin treatment. During your analysis we assess your skin condition using the 5 elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine and adjust our facials according to your most pressing need.

Men’s Facial

A deeply cleansing, purifying and relaxing facial designed especially for men.  It’s great for skin irritation caused by shaving and the effects of outdoor life.

You can expect a hydrating treatment that leaves your skin smooth and refreshed.

Ultimate Rejuvenation Facial

Our Ultimate Rejuvenation Facial is for those of us who don’t have enough time at home to properly take care of our skin. We’d much rather come into a spa and be pampered! This facial is usually done every 8 to 10 weeks and is the perfect ‘pick me up’ for your face! It’s particularly gentle and suitable for those with Rosacea or Hypersensitive skin.

The treatment consists of a detailed and thorough cleansing, followed by toning, exfoliation, lymphatic drainage and Chromo Light Therapy using the principles of our 5 Elements line of products. Should glycolic serum be required, there will be an additional charge. (The use of the serum will be discussed before application.)

To further enhance your facial, if you suffer from a condition such as sinus, migraines or shoulder tension we can use massage therapy or acupuncture to complement the treatment. A RMT or R.Ac administers all treatments. We will always ask before treating you whether you would like to have a massage or an acupuncture treatment.

If massage or acupuncture is not required we could do a laser treatment for Anti-Aging (Laser Photo Facial) after exfoliation. Please note if you’re receiving a laser treatment we will not apply the glycolic serum.

Post Facial Treatment

This facial is ideal for those who have been exposed, or over exposed, to the sun. It is also a great facial when you need an extra moisturizing treatment to prepare for the fall and winter months.

To begin the treatment consists of cleansing and exfoliation followed by toning. If we find lymphatic drainage is required this will be done after the toning.

For those with mature skin, we will perform a Chromo Light Therapy treatment. Finally, a custom blended mask is applied.

For those who have been exposed to the sun we’ll apply an extra nourishing moisturizing treatment and use Chromo Light therapy. Chromo Light therapy uses the 5 Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine and helps to shrink large pores for a smoother, clearer complexion.

All facials use the PHYTO 5® Serums on the most appropriate acupuncture points.

Youth Facial

Before we begin your facial we carefully assess your skin using the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine to determine the best course of treatment for your skin type and condition.

Once your skin has been assessed the treatment consists of a detailed and thorough cleansing, followed by exfoliation, toning, and moisturizing.

To complete your facial, we provide a skin treatment according to the Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis we determined earlier. You’ll leave feeling refreshed moisturized and looking more youthful.

PHYTO 5® Energetic Elements Facial

One of our most popular and restorative treatments is the PHYTO 5® Facial.

Our PHYTO 5® product line from Phytobiodermie is suitable for all skin types. Our trained Phytobiodermie professionals use T.C.M. (Traditional Chinese Medicine) methods to assess and evaluate your skins condition and determine the best treatment for you. The PHYTO 5® product line is based on the five elements of Traditional Chinese medicine (wood, fire, earth, metal & water) and is formulated with high-grade natural and energetic essential oils including minerals and vitamins, mixed in natural bases such as clay, algae and plankton.

There is a full line of products for all skin types and conditions. We also incorporate lymphatic drainage and chromo-light therapy to balance all 5 elements. These 5 elements correspond to the major organs in your body. The beauty of a PHYTO 5® facial is it will work both at the level of your physical body (skin) and your energetic body (vital energy) which results in you not only feeling better but looking better too.

“Wake up with Make-up”

Eyelash/Eyebrow Tint

Eyelash and eyebrow tinting can make a huge difference to your look.  Not only will it shave time off your morning makeup routine, it will brighten your appearance.  Our trained technicians will look at your complexion, eye color, hair color, and the color of your hair’s roots. We can then chose the perfect tinting shade.

Women with light hair colour  (blondes and redheads), the tinting will typically be about two shades darker than the roots. If you already have dark hair and brows, it’s more appropriate to go lighter. Too dark a tint can be severe looking.

Tinting typically lasts 3 to 4 weeks.

Permanent Cosmetic Make-up/Scar Camouflage

Permanent cosmetic makeup is a cosmetic tattoo. It’s also called micro pigmentation. It’s used to produce a long-lasting look that mimics the use of makeup. The tattoo is implanted into the dermal layer of your skin. It is very long-lasting, but will fade slightly over time, just like other tattoos. The two most common applications are eyebrows and eyeliner.  Both can enhance your appearance considerably and will shorten your morning makeup routine.

Touch-up procedures may be necessary to maintain results over time.
